______________

October 2018:  Construction begins on our campus on Monday, October 8th!  Here are important parking and navigation guidelines that will take effect on the 8th:

• The driveway that allows traffic to flow from the front of campus (Chapel side) to the back parking lot (Sanctuary side) WILL BE CLOSED until mid-December so that utility and drainage work can be completed. This means that parking will be available at the front of the campus and at the back of the campus, but in order to travel between the two, you must take Cascade Caverns.
• FRONT LOT: Please reserve the front lot on Sunday mornings for families with young children, visitors, and those needing handicap parking. If you are able, we are asking the majority of our church to park in the large back lot, entering from our rear entry off of Cascade Caverns.
• BACK LOT: The site of construction will be fenced off, but a safe walk zone will be created to allow passage from the back parking lot to the Sanctuary and the front of campus.

August 2018:  Early in 2016 the plan was revealed to bring relief to our children's spaces with the plan of constructing a new children's building that would join the existing worship facility, providing excellent classroom and gathering spaces, close proximity to parents, and have our ministries under one roof.  In addition to the improved worship and learning experience, this also takes care of safety and security concerns for church leadership and parents.  Well...the time has come to see if the church will vote to move forward with this plan!  If you are a current member of Currey Creek, please plan to attend the Family Reunion gathering on Sunday evening, August 26th.  In addition to ministry updates and new elder introductions, the church body will vote on whether or not to enter into lending and general contractor contracts to commence construction.  The elders have selected a general contractor through a competitive bid process and are in the process of selecting a lender through a competitive bid process.  The plan remains to borrow 50% of the cost of construction, ensuring the payment and pre-payment of the new note will fall comfortably within the existing and future church budget.  The cost of construction is currently bid at $6.5M with the church having cash of $3.25M for the project.  There is an existing $1M note on the existing worship facility that will be rolled into the final new note.

Details of the project and financing will be given at Family Reunion.  In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to INQUIRE.

May 2018:  A major milestone was reached this year as the church topped $3.2M in cash set aside for the building campaign.  It became apparent that is was time to complete construction documents and solicit bids from qualified contractors.  After being told to anticipate a cost of roughly $10 million ($200/sf), bids came back over $12 million (plus the additional cost of audio/visual equipment and installation).  After considering the reality of the current economic environment related to cost of construction and labor, the financial oversight team and elders have opted to revert back to the original plan to build the 2-story children's building only (removing from the scope a new worship space).  Architects are reworking plans and documents that will enable contractors to revise their bids for construction.  At this point, we anticipate roughly a $6 million project for this new scope.  With over half of the cost on-hand, the leadership intends to begin construction as soon as financing is awarded and the church votes in August to approve the financing package.  Construction is anticipated to last 11 months, enabling us to occupy the building for the start of the Fall 2019 semester.

If you haven't yet contributed toward this project, would you prayerfully consider doing so?  Your gifts will greatly aid us in financing as little as possible to make this new children's space a reality.  You can donate online HERE, write a check designated "building campaign", or contact Eric on how to make a stock donation.

April 2017:  A recent article updated the growth data for the Boerne area, the highlights of which are as follows:

  • In 2015-2016, the City of Boerne added about 6 new people per day
  • For the 1st time ever, BISD is building three new schools at once
  • There are 5,000 homes approved for development
  • The U.S. Census Bureau said Kendall County was the 2nd fastest growing county in the U.S. (based on % growth) from June '15 to June '16

What about Currey Creek? So far this year, we have experienced the three largest Sunday morning attendances of any Sunday in our history (outside of special event Sundays). Also, through the end of March, approximately 50 more families have contributed to Currey Creek than over the same period in 2016. Our Easter attendance continues to grow exponentially, with an estimated 2,300 attendees this year. In fact, our Easter service has grown by 1,000 people every three years!  From a campaign perspective, we've completed the 1st year of saving and collecting giving towards A Time to Plant. Total cash on hand for the campaign at the end of March 2017 is $1,868,000. To achieve our three year goal of $5,000,000, we need to collect $1,667,000 every year. We are off to a great start!

January 2017:  Following the initial pledging period for the initial Children's Building and then adding the worship center, the church pledges totaled roughly $1,900,000.  Through gifts already given toward the building campaign as well as internal church savings, Currey Creek has $1,675,000 cash on-hand for the building campaign, and expects to save an additional $300,000 as part of the 2017 operating budget.  With approximately $1,180,000 of outstanding pledges and an estimated $10,000,000 project with 50% borrowed, that leaves the church still needing $1,845,000 over the next three years.

After the elders prayed about the future direction based on the response to date, we feel positively about moving forward in our three year plan to raise the funds needed.  Through added pledges and gifts from new members and frugal administration of tithes, this gap can be closed in the coming years.  In addition, we will continue to work with our architect to appropriately size the project and finish out the plans which will allow us to bid the project and have a more accurate cost expectation...hopefully much less than the current estimate which has been our experience so far.

In the meantime, we are very grateful for the generous response of our church family and great dialogue around accomodating the growth of our church, and the vision of planting churches.  In 2016, we experienced by far our largest Easter and Christmas Eve services at 1,950 and 1,500 respectively.  Our average attendance increased 15% over the prior year, and 2017 attendance and membership requests have jumped already.  We will continue to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to adults, students, and children.  Our purpose of Exalting God, Enriching the Christ-follower, and Engaging our culture remains.  Our vision of church planting stands as we look to finish out this campus that the Lord has blessed us with.

What is A Time to Plant?

A Time To Plant is a multi-year, single phase campaign raising the needed funds to finish out the Currey Creek Church campus here at 35 Cascade Caverns Road.  Once completed, new worship, children's, and fellowship spaces will allow for teaching and ministry for all ages under one roof and in close proximity to one another.  The finished plan will accomodate approximately 2,000 adults over two optimal worship times on Sunday mornings.  The size of the spaces are proportionate to the amount of land we own.  At this size, Currey Creek will have the people, finances, and systems necessary to plant churches in a systematic, repeatable fashion.
