Creek Updates Week of October 29th

CREEK UPDATES

*New to Currey Creek?

You are invited to our Discovery Class THIS Sunday, November 4th at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Discovery Class (formerly Next Step Lunch) is our 1-hour class introducing anyone to Currey Creek's philosophy of ministry and how to quickly get connected into one of our ministries. If you are brand new and are looking for an introduction to Currey Creek, this class is for you. Please RSVP here to attend.

*Thanksgiving Turkey Fry - Men Needed!

We welcome all men on Wednesday, November 21st, 7:00 a.m. at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, as Currey Creek's men join together with other local churches to provide a Thanksgiving meal to over 300 local families in need. We'll see you at the Fairgrounds bright and early. Bring your gas tank and fryer - we'll have the oil and turkeys! If you don't have a fryer, don't worry - come on out and serve with us!

*Fall Service Project

We have a service opportunity Saturday, November 10, 2018, serving refugee families during a Fall Festival at Wurzbach Manor in San Antonio. We are partnering with other organizations to provide games, prizes and fellowship to this community of 12 different nations. Set up begins at 9:00 a.m, games will run 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and conclude with a meal will be provided by a Syrian refugee at 12:00. Our goal is to love these families. Sign up to volunteer here.  Although Christian churches often come and drop off material goods to refugees, they are surprised that many rarely engage with them. These refugees are hungry for relationships and the connectedness it brings. Language can be a barrier but school children often are able translators for their elders. Sitting in solitude with someone and having a friendly demeanor works, too. Please consider being God's hands and messengers today.

*Upstream on October 31st - THIS WEDNESDAY!

Middle School and High School Upstream will meet at a special time from 6-7 p.m. TOMORROW, October 31st. There will be food, worship and games, but no small groups this week! Please note Upstream will just be 1 hour this week!

*Creek Kids Toy Drive

Last year Creek Kids teamed with Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries to provide over 250 Christmas gifts for children in our surrounding area. Let's be a blessing again! Please come by the Creek Kids table this Sunday and select one or multiple children to bless this Christmas! For more information, please click here.

*Drive-In Movie Night

What could be more fun in the fall? Let's bring back quality entertainment! Picture it now: Pj's, lawn chairs, cuddled families, and a movie! Grab some popcorn and hot chocolate, you don't want to miss it! See you at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30th! Visit curreycreek.com/kidsevents for more details.

*Serving Opportunity!

Where does worship begin at Currey Creek? Surprisingly, it actually begins in the parking lot. Each and every Sunday, the Parking Team, made up of dedicated volunteers, has the distinct opportunity to make a positive impression on our members and guests. This is the only ministry team that influences every person who drives onto our campus. Come join us monthly! Email kbrooks@curreycreek.com to sign up.

*Serve the Homeless

Taking it to the Streets ministers to our homeless community in downtown San Antonio by serving a warm meal and the love of Christ every Saturday night. Come be a part of restoring dignity and community to our friends in need as we fellowship together. You can also gather your friends, family or small group and sign up to organize and provide a meal. Go to takingittothestreets.com for more information.

*Weekly Devotional from John

Every week there is a devotional that John has put together as a great resource for you to enjoy. Please click here to read.
